About Egham

Egham is a small commuter town in Runnymede Surrey, it's existence predates 666AD and it also appeared in the Domesday Book of 1086.

Today, Egham is part of the London commuter belt and is a popular residential location due to its excellent transport links and affordable housing. Famously, Egham played host to the Olympic Torch relay for the London 2012 Olympics.

The buyers' market in Egham is primarily made up of families and young professionals taking advantage of the ease of access and quieter lifestyle that it offers; whereas the rental market is dominated by students of nearby Royal Holloway University of London.

The High Street in Egham is pedestrianised and offers a good selection of shops to meet basic shopping needs, as well as butchers and bakers whose family businesses have served the area for centuries.

For a broader selection of shops and nightlife, many of the locals travel to the nearby towns of Staines-upon-Thames and Windsor. Staines-upon-Thames is a 5 minute drive away and you can reach Windsor from Egham in 15 minutes.

There is an abundance of green space in and around Egham, such as Windsor Great Park and Virginia Water Lakes. There are also several parks and children's play areas such as the Lammas Recreation Park and Runnymede Pleasure Grounds. Together these spaces provide some lovely recreational areas to enjoy on a summer's afternoon, but are also well worth a visit on a frosty day to fully appreciate their beauty. Alongside its many different walking trails, Windsor Great Park also offers lots of different cycling and horse-riding routes through the park. For thrill seekers, Thorpe Park is located to the south of Egham and provides a wide variety of rides and attractions for the whole family.

State Primary and Junior Schools in Egham include Manorcroft Primary School, Thorpe Lea Primary School and Thorpe Church of England Primary School.

State Secondary Schools in Egham include The Magna Carta School and Bishopsgate School.
