The property is located in the village of Winchfield, within what was formerly Winchfield Hospital before being converted in 1985. Well suited to commuters, the property has easy access to Winchfield train station, with trains to London Waterloo taking approximately 55 minutes.

The buildings that now form Winchfield Court date back to 1871, when the site was built as the Hartley Wintney Union Workhouse. Designed by architect Edmund Woodthorpe, the substantial Victorian complex was built to accommodate around 120 people, with separate accommodation for men and women, workshops, a laundry, dining facilities and an infirmary.

By the 1890s, the workhouse had evolved into a hospital. It subsequently became known as Winchfield Hospital, continuing to provide care through the 20th century and eventually becoming a hospital specialising in geriatric care. Following the creation of the NHS in 1948, the hospital came under NHS management. It finally closed in 1984.

The site was then sympathetically converted into residential accommodation during 1985–86, creating around 33 homes while retaining many of the original Victorian buildings and architectural features. The development became known as Winchfield Court.
