About Us...

The firm was founded in 1927 by W B Burnett Esq., and was situated in Station Place, adjacent to Finsbury Park Train Station. The main business at that time was the management of estates of houses in the area, built mainly since 1870, which were let to tenants paying a weekly rent. Apart from estate management and lettings, there were a small number of houses sold to owner occupiers. In 1960, Mr Burnett retired and the ownership of the business was held by the Davies family, and the firm was renamed Davies & Davies. During the 1960s, home ownership became more widespread and renting less common, partly due to changing social attitudes and partly due to legislation which led to the demise of the private landlord. In 1974, Malcolm Levy joined the firm followed in 1975 by Mark Davies. Both were born locally and attended local schools, two of Mark's children live locally and two of Malcolm's family work in the firm, so Davies & Davies can be truly called a local, family firm.
