About Earlsfield

Earlsfield is a residential, suburban area located within the London Borough of Wandsworth.

It isn't as well-known as some of its neighbouring suburbs like Tooting, Belham or Clapham and this relative anonymity allows its residents to enjoy a more relaxed lifestyle whilst still benefitting from its proximity to Central London. In fact, Earlsfield is just 13 minutes by train from London Waterloo. This proximity attracts young professionals to the area whilst, the quieter atmosphere makes Earlsfield attractive to families boosting both the rental and sales market.

Located in the northern side of Earlsfield is the Southside Shopping Centre where you can enjoy access to food, fashion and film all under one roof. Inside there is an excellent mix of well-known high-street shops, restaurants and cafes, a new gym as well as a 14 screen cinema. Garratt Lane is Earlsfield's primary shopping street; on it you can find various restaurants, pubs and bars as well as hairdressers and shops.

Earlsfield was famously home to Louis de Bernieres, the author of ‘Captain Corelli's Mandolin'. Bernieres' further book and play ‘Morning at the Centre of the World' pays homage to the diversity of Earlsfield. Sadiq Khan, the current Major of London and formally MP for Tooting and Earlsfield.

There are two churches in Earlsfield, the Earlsfield Baptist Church is on Magdalen Road and St Andrew's Church of England found on the corner of Garratt Lane and Waynflete Street. Also worth a visit is Earlsfield Library, you can learn about the history of the area as well as offering weekly activities for children.

Earlsfield train station sits within Travelcard Zone 3 and is only 3 stops from London Waterloo (a 13 minute journey) where you have the option to explore the Southbank or continue your journey onwards using either over or underground services. Alternatively it is only a 20 minute journey to London Victoria. Also nearby, a short 20 minutes walk away, is accesses to the District Line Southfields and Wimbledon Park.

If you are travelling via road, Earlsfield provides easy access to the A3 from which you can commute into London or travelling in the opposite direction reach as far as Portsmouth. Earlsfield is served by many buses with a frequent service which will take you in and around the borough.
