DESCRIPTION

Burton Hill was built in 1871 and was designed by the renowned architect Gilbert Blount, who was greatly influenced by the Gothic revival architect, Augustus Pugin and includes attractive painted and rendered elevations with interesting painted stone mullioned windows under a slate tiled roof. The house was bequeathed to the Society of Jesus as a convalescent home for monks, remaining in their ownership until 1978 when the Burton Hill Estate was sold in its entirety and the main house was converted into two dwellings.
