Gorof Melyn is a quintessential traditional Welsh cottage thought to date back to the early C19. It was owned by Lord Cawdor who was Lord Lieutenant of Pembrokeshire and Chairman of the Great Western Railway. The property was Grade II listed in 1999 as a good example of the smaller cottage of the region and group value with the adjoining Grade II listed pound, a circular rubble stone animal pound to be found on the southern edge of the property.

This lovely property nestles comfortably into the upper reaches of the Towy Valley in the popular village of Rhandirmwyn and a short distance from the scenic road that leads to the Lynn Brianne Dam. The area around Rhandirmwyn is known for the stunning scenery associated with this area of Wales and the abundance of wildlife including Red Kites. The market town of Llandovery (8 miles) offers a varied range of local shops and a supermarket. From Llandovery there are good road links to Brecon, Llandeilo and a little further away the M4 corridor.
