North Street, North Tawton

3 bedroom property for sale

Guide price £265,000

A very pretty detached town cottage with private south facing garden in this busy small town, 3 bedrooms, 2 receptions and garage.

Located on North Street and within easy access of the towns’ amenities including a number of shops and services, this detached house has plenty of character. Parts of the house are believed to date back to the 15th century which adds to the quirky nature of the property. There is plenty of light from the south facing windows (overlooking the garden) into both reception rooms and bedrooms.

On the ground floor is a living room with bay window (overlooking garden) with a further door to a useful store and WC (this could be opened up to make better use of the space). The dining room also features a bay window and a lovely woodburning stove. There’s a tucked away study with stairs to the first floor. The kitchen is fitted and features a walk-in store and larder plus a back door to the rear courtyard and door into the garage.

On the first floor are 3 double bedrooms and a large bathroom with a separate shower and freestanding bath, a real feature of this lovely bathroom!

The garden will be of real interest to many, being south facing and private with lawn and an abundance of shrubs and flowering plants. There’s an additional area to the side of the house too. Although not too far from the town centre, the garden is surprisingly private. To the rear is the garage and it may be possible to create further parking if required subject to permissions.

Agents Notes: The current owners have considered utilising the living room and rear WC/store area to make a small letting unit (Airbnb) which could be achieved subject to permissions.

Please see the floorplan for room sizes.

NORTH TAWTON is a small town, built alongside the banks of ‘The River Taw’. Settlements in and around the ‘Taw Valley’ experience a haven-like quality, between the often steep-edged hillsides – a contrast to other areas of more open farmland. The town has a selection of shops, a primary school, The Fountain and The White Hart pubs and an undeniably pretty square. For more choice, by way of facilities the larger town of Okehampton is only 5 miles up the road – where access to the A30 dual carriageway (a link to the City of Exeter) can also be found. North Tawton, as with many Devon towns has a prime medieval church, with a west spire adorned with oak shingles. The town is also known for its superb creamery. The Taw Valley Creamery (est 1974) produces award -winning cheeses, revered locally and nationally.

DIRECTIONS : Upon entering North Tawton from A3072 (De Bathe Cross), proceed into the Town Square. Bear right immediately before the Clock Tower and go straight across the staggered junction into North Street. The property will be found on the right behind a timber garden fence.
