Chenson is a small hamlet on the A377 between Crediton and Barnstaple. The location is ideal for the village of Lapford with it’s shop, pub and railway station and both Crediton and Chulmleigh are the closest larger towns for more amenities including both primary and secondary schools.

The stone-built cottage has been improved by the current owners and includes a modern kitchen with breakfast bar and an oil-fired range providing central heating, hot water (there is an immersion too) and cooking. In addition there is a good sized workshop, sheds and wood stores and at the bottom of the garden is a useful outbuilding with multiple uses. There is power, water and plumbing for a WC and basin so would be ideal as a studio/office/bar or even an overnight retreat!

DIRECTIONS: From Crediton, leave the town towards Copplestone and stay on the A377 when through the traffic lights in Copplestone through Morchard Road and Lapford Cross. Stay on this road and you will come to Chenson. The cottage is on the left just at the end of the layby on the right. For viewings we suggest parking in the layby and cross to the cottage on foot. Please be careful and listen for cars as there is a corner to contend with on this road.

LAPFORD is a large village, beyond Morchard Road on the A377 – 9 miles from Crediton and 16 miles from the City of Exeter. Like most Devon parishes, it’s not far from a lovely collection of trees – Eggesford Forest is just up the way, a regal coniferous plantation that plays host to variety of creatures including adders, butterflies, buzzards and woodpeckers (and badgers!). The village itself has a primary school with an excellent Ofsted report, sizeable playing fields (with a football pitch and kid-friendly playground) and a busy pub – The Old Malt Scoop Inn, once a 16th Century coaching inn – which now offers an à la carte dining experience, using only the best local produce.
